Audio Visual Systems

The hardware had to be capable of sustaining high sound pressure levels yet still be subtle and engaging for movies. Finally, the visible equipment had to fit in with the demanding aesthetic of the Italian interior design team. To deliver the sound levels required, we selected professional quality speakers and subwoofers from Meyer Sound who have a proven track record of active monitors that can play loud but also with great musicality. These were large (especially the twin subs) so we had them custom finished in the precise RAL colour selected for the walls. Although they don’t “disappear” they work well with the industrial quality that the design team was looking for and provide extraordinary sound quality at all levels. To save the neighbours, we also installed sound monitoring and cut off hardware that can be pre-set by the parents.

Bespoke Custom Integration

A custom designed GUI was applied to the Crestron TPMC-4SM touchpanel and TPMC-3X handheld touchpanel for ease of use and users even have to enter a PIN number to use the DJ equipment to prevent people messing around with the system.

Home Cinema

The cinema part of this install was based on a JVC DLA-X30 Projector and sound was delivered by the professional audio Meyer system

Lighting Control

Due to the size and use of the basement, lighting control was key. There are multiple simple keypads around the basement for control of lights, blinds and the outside water feature, but the client is also able to use the touchpanels and iPad's for adjusting scenes without having to call us

To get maximum use out of a new basement entertainment suite by including a cinema and music system suitable for loud parties. Everything to be simple to use and for different functions to be easily selected.

Potentially, there was a significant conflict in the clients’ requirement as the system needed to be both an intimate cinema for a quiet night in but still cut it as a loud party venue (complete with DJ equipment).

The system integrates a professional DJ mixing desk with MP3 playback so there is a complicated switching arrangement to share the active speakers between the desk and the AV pre-amp. Both are independent of one another and are controlled via an audio matrix. Similarly, it is possible to watch a video source on the projector and listen to the DJ booth. All of the complexity is made simple by the custom programming of the Crestron TPMC-4SM and TMPC3X handset. The DJ booth was custom design by us (see attached renders and designs) to house all the equipment and provide the perfect setting for the DJ to control the room.

Finally, the Crestron controlled lighting and black out blinds are integrated so that a single button press can transform the room into whichever function is required.
